The Use of Suspense in Julius Caesar :: Julius Caesar Essays
The Use of Suspense in Julius Caesar Suspense can be defined as the uncertainties the reader feels about what will happen next in a story, or in this case, a play. William Shakespeare incorporated in Julius Caesar three very suspenseful events on which the whole play depends. The first suspenseful event of this play occurs when the conspirators join and discuss their reasons for assassination. Cassius feels that he is equal to Caesar, if not even better that him. Shakespeare builds suspense by using this statement made by Cassius: "I was born free as Caesar.../we both have fed as well, and we can both / endure the winter's cold as well as he." Then cassius tries to persuade Brutes to join in on the conspiracy by telling him that it would be honorable to assassinate Caesar. Cassius tells Brutes that the fate of Rome is in trouble with Caesar in power, which helps build suspense early in the play. To convince Brutes conclusively, cassius forged letters and threw them into Brutus's window where he was sure to find them. Shakespeare wrote this statement: "we will awake him and be sure of him. This is a very powerful statement that builds suspense because the reader most likely feels that Brutes will join in and want to assassinate Caesar, yet the reader is uncertain as to whether or not the plan will work. These events are very suspenseful as they lead up to the assassination of Caesar. The next series of suspenseful events that foreshadow Caesar's assassination happen on a very unusual night. One night before Caesar's death there were many strange occurrences the foreshadows darkness in the future. A lioness gave birth in the streets, the dead rose from their graves, fiery worriers fought in the clouds so fiercely that blood drizzled upon the capitol, horses neighed, dying men groaned, and ghosts shrieked and squealed along the streets; all events of this strange night that Shakespeare makes so suspenseful. Also on this unusual nigh, Calpurnia had a very frightening dream that was very suspenseful. The dream was of Caesar's statue emitting blood and many Romans were bathing in it. When the reader reads this he is "on the edge of his seat"

Lead and manage people Essay
I used to work at a fine dinning restaurant, the restaurant manager there was very good. He has very strong knowledge about how to manage people. He never being aggressive or uses any inappropriate language. He never asks someone to do the job that he doesnââ¬â¢t know how to do. He shows people how to get the job done efficiently. No matter what kind of issues or problems that staff have, he always is willing to help. He gains respect from people not only about his position but also his knowledge, skill as well as his personality. Also he has a strong knowledge about all the wines and the food that we were serving. He made the perfect matching wine list for the menu that impresses everyone who worked or ate there. People enjoy working with him, as he give his knowledge to everyone, as a model to teach people a better way to do things and improve the way we usually do. His encouragements made our target easier to achieve. We worked like a family, people took care of each others. I used to work at a Thai restaurant, the mission statement was to bring the authentic Thai cuisine to life and let people enjoy. In order to achieve this mission statement, we need to cook as authentic Thai food as possible as well as let the guests to enjoy the cuisine that we bring overseas. I think the statement is effective for the company. Cuisine changes as it moves overseas. People travel overseas and know how the authentic local cuisine is. They cannot find it in Melbourne because cuisine shifts then the flavour changes. Imagine if there is only one restaurant can keep the real authentic taste that would be the selling point. Thatââ¬â¢s what this business wanted and they succussed. They do actually follow the statement. They hire the chefs from Thai to train and monitor other chefs, follow all the steps to make dishes in Thai way, import all the necessary ingredients only from Thai, keep in touch with the authentic Thai cuisine, and always ask well known Thai chefs to tast e the food. I will discuss this change in both formal and informal communication ways, such as via email, staff notice board, through meeting, and face to face to talk about this change. The email and the notice board are just the tools that I want staff to know there is a change to be happening in 6 weeks. Let them to discuss themselves first, get themselves well prepare for the change, and also to establish some issues to discuss in the incoming meeting, like new color against the religion, discrimination, etc. The meeting process is to formally hand out the change and receive the feedback from staffs. It may require a bit editing or more work on to suit everyone. Last for the individual problem, I will have to discuss the problem in person and try to get a best outcome. I want to delegate the job of making sauce A to Jahn, as he is the new apprentice of the job. As well as sauce A is the dairy big job for this section. In 2 weeks time, Jahn should be able to make the sauce A without any supervision and within a very short period of time. But meanwhile, I need to guide through him all the information that he needs to make sauce A. Demonstration is necessary. When he is making sauce A, I will have to supervisor the whole process, just to make sure he follows correct procedures ensure he is able to make it by himself. Sauce A is a very complex job for anyone, therefore 2 weeks training is required. After 2weeks time, people should be able to make it without supervision. We can delegate the task but not the responsibility, therefore I still need to check the correct seasoning for sauce A from Jahnââ¬â¢s work, also the actual time he spends on making it. If I am not at work, then other chefs will supervisor his work as well, just to make sure he keeps his work consistence. Coaching is more than just pure training and it involves more of personal relationship over time and in many ways it is like mentoring. It makes better environment for the organisation from management to the workers together to build a better workplace in order to achieve a better result. As a chef de cuisine, I would evaluate each individualââ¬â¢s skill and put them in the right place, such as put someone on web design or programming if he/she is good at doing computer. Then consider the current situation to establish a plan for coaching. Well explain to members about the plan, make sure theyà understand and make changes for any better leads. I will also demonstrate the task to members. I need to show members that I can complete the task better not just I canââ¬â¢t do it therefore I have to hand out for you guys. When there is a specific skill require for the cut, I will show them how to do it, and I am willing to help to teach them and develop their individual skill level. Teach them what is the best way to do things right here. To help them to multi-tasking from my past experience.I think I will be using ââ¬Ëdemocraticââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËLaissez-Faireââ¬â¢ style to coach people, they are more guider and helper kind of coaching style instead of being boss to ask around. As a learner, people is willing to learn from others especially from the one who is easy to talk to, image if your teacher is very grumpy, would you ask him/her any questions? I will ask open questions rather than close questions. It is also a good way to get the feedback from people according to their answers. The recognition and promotion are my motivation at the moment. As I just started a new chef job at a different restaurant, everything starts from fresh, humbly gaining knowledge from co-workers. I need to fit in the new working environment is the priority. Within a month period, the recognition from headchef or other chef is my motivation, learning new knowledge everyday at the same time improve myself. I can see myself is improving a better understanding of the food that I make, developing the better skill that as a chef should have, etc. Those factors create satisfaction for myself in order to achieve better position to the job as well as lead co-workers feel is good to have me on board. According to Herzbergââ¬â¢s motivation-Hygiene theory, they are leading to satisfaction. My motivation has changed over the past few years. When I first came to this country, I just needed a job to feed myself, therefore my motivation at that time was just money, and I didnââ¬â¢t care about t he quality of work environment or the skill that I could improve. Then I moved to another restaurant, also I had a fair amount of money to start with, so at that time a better working environment, better pay, better standard was my motivation. It is more like Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs, different stage has vary needs, as well as the motivations. Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs can also explain why younger people have different motivational goals than older people. At different age group,à people are tend to have very needs, those needs result different motivational goals. For example, at age 3 you may do what it takes to satisfy your parents in order to get a lollypop. But you wouldnââ¬â¢t do the same when you are 20. Because the lollypop wouldnââ¬â¢t be your motivational goal at all after you already had hundred of them.Assignment activity 7 Trust-Trust employees, headchef give new staff the opportunity to run the section him/herself. Fully delegate responsibilities to new staff without micromanaging the outcome. They feel being trusted, they will work well in a soften environment. If you always doubt the ability of employee, then they are not happy, how could they work for you. Support- Do not hide the information, give employees the information they need to get the job done. Management should make itself open for the talk regards to the employee manner or dairy issues. As well as welling to help employees to solve the problems that they are facing. Employees feel loved, then they can provide a better outcome to work for you. Facilitation- Provide a happy environment for employees to work with in order to maximize the outcome. No, I donââ¬â¢t think so. One of the previous restaurant that I worked, it doesnââ¬â¢t have a well communication system. When we say communication, it means two ways, the message from the sender to the receiver, then the feedback from the receiver back to the sender. At that place we have staff notice board and staff communication board. But they are only use to post from the top management only. No staff feedback is needed. It doesnââ¬â¢t work as it is only a one way communication tool, it is really hard for management to know if staff understand or award of the new ideas and so on. Within hospitality industry, two ways communication is important, well understand the message and the feedback is essential as they can improve the quality of work or service. Therefore, they should provide the feedback form for staff to fill up, management should really go down and understand what staffs really want. Email out the ideas then get the reply direct from staff may be a good way to start with. The manager at the last place that I used to work, I reckon he uses both paternalistic and democratic management styles. He understands each one of workers within the company and he talks to each one of them like family, therefore everyone calls him ââ¬Ëbrotherââ¬â¢. As a ââ¬Ëbrotherââ¬â¢, he takes care of each of us and releases the pressure from both workersââ¬â¢ family and work. He listens to people, and talks to people very gently, never use any offensive language. When there are some decisions need to be made, he always listens to all the workersââ¬â¢ need and try to minimize the issues would cause. Those styles were effective for him. He is happy to delegate tasks to colleagues, gaining more power by earning peopleââ¬â¢s respect. I personal believe he is a good manager as after he took over the place, the revenue was increase and less staff turnover, everyone works together like in a family.

Famous Ancient Greek Sculptors
These six sculptors (Myron, Phidias, Polyclitus, Praxiteles, Scopas, and Lysippus) are among the most famous artists in ancient Greece. Most of their work has been lost except as it survives in Roman and later copies. Art during the Archaic Period was stylizedà but became more realistic during the Classical Period. The late Classical Period sculpture was three dimensional, made to be viewed from all sides. These and other artists helped move Greek art ââ¬â from Classic Idealism to Hellenistic Realism, blending in softer elements and emotive expressions.à The two most commonly cited sources for information about Greek and Roman artists are the first century CE writer and scientist Pliny the Elder (who died watching Pompeii erupt) and the second century CE travel writer Pausanias. Myron of Eleutherae 5th C. BCE. (Early Classical Period) An older contemporary of Phidias and Polyclitus, and, like them, also a pupil of Ageladas, Myron of Eleutherae (480ââ¬â440 BCE) worked chiefly in bronze. Myron is known for his Discobolus (discus-thrower) which had careful proportions and rhythm. Pliny the Elder argued that Myrons most famous sculpture was that of a bronze heifer, supposedly so lifelike it could be mistaken for a real cow. The cow was placed at the Athenian Acropolis between 420ââ¬â417 BCE, then moved to the Temple of Peace at Rome and then the Forum Taurii in Constantinople. This cow was on view for nearly a thousand years ââ¬â the Greek scholar Procopius reported that he saw it in the 6th century CE. It was the subject of no less than 36 Greek and Roman epigrams, some of which claimed that the sculpture could be mistaken for a cow by calves and bulls, or that it actually was a real cow, attached to a stone base. Myron can be approximately dated to the Olympiads of the victors whose statues he crafted (Lycinus, in 448, Timanthes in 456, and Ladas, probably 476). Phidias of Athens c. 493ââ¬â430 BCE (High Classical Period) Phidias (spelled Pheidias or Phydias), the son of Charmides, was a 5th century BCE sculptor known for his ability to sculpt in nearly anything, including stone, bronze, silver, gold, wood, marble, ivory, and chryselephantine. Among his most famous works is the nearly 40-foot tall statue of Athena, made of chryselephantine with plates of ivory upon a core of wood or stone for the flesh and solid gold drapery and ornaments. A statue of Zeus at Olympia was made of ivory and gold and was ranked among one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Athenian statesman Pericles commissioned several works from Phidias, including sculptures to celebrate the Greek victory at the Battle of Marathon. Phidias is among the sculptors associated with the early use of the Golden Ratio, the Greek representation of which is the letter Phi after Phidias. Phidias the accused of trying to embezzle goldà but proved his innocence. He was charged with impiety, however, and sent to prison where, according to Plutarch, he died. Polyclitus of Argos 5th C. BCE (High Classical Period) Polyclitus (Polycleitus or Polykleitos) created a gold and ivory statue of Hera for the goddesss temple at Argos. Strabo called it the most beautiful rendering of Hera hed ever seen, and it was considered by most ancient writers as one of the most beautiful works of all Greek art. All his other sculptures were in bronze. Polyclitus is also known for his Doryphorus statue (Spear-bearer), which illustrated his book named canon (kanon), a theoretical work on ideal mathematical proportions for human body parts and on the balance between tension and movement, known as symmetry. He sculpted Astragalizontes (Boys Playing at Knuckle Bones) which had a place of honor in the atrium of the Emperor Titus. Praxiteles of Athens c. 400ââ¬â330 BCE (Late Classical Period) Praxiteles was the son of the sculptor Cephisodotus the Elder, and a younger contemporary of Scopas. He sculpted a great variety of men and gods, both male and female; and he is said to have been the first to sculpt the human female form in a life-sized statue. Praxiteles primarily used marble from the famous quarries of Paros, but he also used bronze. Two examples of Praxiteles work are Aphrodite of Knidos (Cnidos) and Hermes with the Infant Dionysus. One of his works that reflects the change in Late Classical Period Greek art is his sculpture of the god Eros with a sad expression, taking his lead, or so some scholars have said, from a then-fashionable depiction of love as suffering in Athens, and the growing popularity of the expression of feelings in general by painters and sculptors throughout the period. Scopas of Paros 4th C. BCE (Late Classical Period) Scopas was an architect of the Temple of Athena Alea at Tegea, which used all three of the orders (Doric and Corinthian, on the outside and Ionic inside), in Arcadia. Later Scopas made sculptures for Arcadia, which were described by Pausanias. Scopas also worked on the bas-reliefs that decorated the frieze of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in Caria. Scopas may have made one of the sculptured columns on the temple of Artemis at Ephesus after its fire in 356. Scopas made a sculpture of a maenad in a Bacchic frenzy of which a copy survives. Lysippus of Sicyon 4th C. BCE (Late Classical Period) A metalworker, Lysippus taught himself sculpture by studying nature and Polyclitus canon. Lysippus work is characterized by lifelike naturalism and slender proportions. It has been described as impressionistic. Lysippus was the official sculptor to Alexander the Great. It is said about Lysippus that while others had made men as they were, he had made them as they appeared to the eye. Lysippus is thought not to have had formal artistic training but was a prolific sculptor creating sculptures from tabletop size to colossus. Sources Bellinger, Alfred R. How to Flavor Rock Candy
Ive been trying out kits for educational toys, like slime and the chemical volcano, but one kit I just cant bring myself to buy-and-try is the rock candy kit. Why? Its around $12 and doesnt even come with the sugar... just a stick, container, and flavored food coloring. I can come up with my own jar and popsicle stick to make my own rock candy and I suspect you can too. If you want flavoring, there are couple of ways to go. You can add a few drops of flavoring to your saturated sugar solution. These are extracts or flavorings that you would buy in the spice section of a grocery store. You use these by adding food coloring and a couple of drops of flavoring to your crystal solution. Cherry, lemon, lime, orange, mint, and cinnamon all work well. Another option is to dissolve Kool-aidâ⠢ or other drink mix in the crystal growing solution to (intensely) flavor your rock candy. If you have experience with the rock candy kit and think its worth the money, let me know and Ill try it out, but I suspect you can save your pennies and get equally good or better results on your own. Impact Of Autism And Anxiety On Children And Adolescents
Impact of Autism and Anxiety on Children and Adolescents One regarded as rare, autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) ââ¬â which includes autistic disorder, Aspergerââ¬â¢s disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), have received a great deal of professional and scientific attention (White, Oswald, Ollendick, Scahill, 2009). ASDs are characterized by impairment in social communication as well as the presence of repetitive behaviors and restricted interests (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Up to one-half of the individuals with autism are functionally nonverbal and individuals with autism who have adequate language have a variety of other types of communication impairment (Leyfer et al., 2006). Thus, creating a barrier between youth identified with ASD and their peers in terms of the necessary skills in developing relationships in the school setting. It can be difficult to diagnose autism spectrum disorders, for no medical test, such as a blood test, that can detect and diagnose these diso rders currently exists. Instead, we are to look at the childââ¬â¢s behavior and development to make a diagnosis. Interestingly, over the last two decades a significant increase has been demonstrated regarding the number of children diagnosed with autism, with no sign of approaching a steady rate (Hertz-Picciotto and Delwiche, 2009; Rice et al., 2010). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] (2014), one in 68 children and oneShow MoreRelatedVulnerable Populations: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder914 Words à |à 4 PagesVulnerable Populations: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Introduction: Today, we are seeing a rising increase in the occurrence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children. Personal Reflection of Informal Care Givers â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Personal Reflection of Informal Care Givers. Answer: Introduction: Health care has a varied assortment of different professionals, and given the multidisciplinary nature of the health care industry in the current age, the variety of job roles available in the industry is appreciable. The informal caregivers belong with the extended verity of job roles available in the health care industry. The concept of informal care deviates a bit from the conventional full time health care providers, where the hired informal care providers assist the patient in healthy living while in home based environment all the while not conventionally belonging to the health care and medical field. However, this difference in designation often creates a number of challenges in the path for health care delivery for the informal care providers (Harding et al., 2012). According to the reading by UTHORS, the rise in the frequency of home discharge has significantly increased the need for informal care givers and it has spiked the employment scenario for informal carers as well. However, from my own professional experience, the lack of skill and preparation in the informal carers regarding chronic illness and the possibility of encountering death is huge. The qualitative study focuses more on the life experiences of the care provider and helps to understand the challenges faced by the informal care givers (Plank, Mazzoni Cavada, 2012). The verdict of the study concludes that excessive workload and being responsible for everything has a significant effect on the psych and tolerance of the informal caregiver. I would like to add that in the home based environments the entire responsibility of the critically ill patient falls upon the informal care provider and fulfilling the endless responsibilities facilitate extreme burnout in the informal caregivers. In agreement with the final verdict of the article, the family members cannot fulfil the need for critically ill patient on their own and the need for skilled professional knowledge (Plank, Mazzoni Cavada, 2012). And in my opinion the informal caregivers should be trained and educated in interpreting the basic requirements of the patients and management techniques so that they can carry out the care services without any hassle in an organized manner. a very important challenge in the profession of informal care-giving is coming to terms with the possibility of death and illness, and without any professional knowledge it serves as a psychological burden in the informal caregivers. With a little professional training the informal care providers can equip themselves with skills and insight that can help them significantly in providing adequate care to the patient with the concept of illness and death clouding their minds (Zwaanswijk et al., 2013). Termination of employment free essay sample
The situation I have chosen to talk about is something that happened to me. It was work related, my first job actually. I got it through a program that is offered to people who are 18 and just graduated, it was to teach you how to keep a job, what to do at interviews etc. You got paid as you would if it was a real job. You got to decide on what field you would work at. I of course wanted to go to school that deals with psychology or social worker even something in the medical field. It took a while for the main women in charge of everything to find a location for me to work at. I worked at her office until she did. I would file papers, answer phones, One day in particularly I wore a vintage looking top, and the lady told me not to wear it again (although it covered me and was something someone would wear when going to meetings. We will write a custom essay sample on Termination of employment or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page ) After that she would start to be a little mean towards me I was 3 mins late, although I was at the office before she was and couldnââ¬â¢t get in until she was there to unlock it. After a few weeks working there, she finally found me a place, I was then working at the records department, and it was great my supervisor was amazing. Now this is where the issues start to come in, since I was with a program thatââ¬â¢s how I got paid not by the actual place, I and three other girls were all on one contract to work there. I was dealing with personal life issues, helping my mom with the household since her bf left, and then her having a massive heart attack. My supervisor was fine with it she understood. The lady in the program otherwise didnââ¬â¢t like me missing. Told me to separate my life from my work life. The other girls that I was working with, were doing a lozy job, toke one to many breaks, and was always talking about messed up stuff, such as people being murdered in their families, and how their houses would get shot at. My supervisor hated this; she wasnââ¬â¢t around any of this before so it was scary for her. I was the only one who would show up early, and leave late my work was perfect and never toke one break. One day on my day off, one of the other girls literally yelled at one of the other supervisors and threatened to sue her, all she did was tell her to get back to work instead of talking and just sitting there. After that our contract was terminated. If one went all of us had to go. So Iââ¬â¢m out of a job, we all had meetings with the lady for the program. I go in and she tells me sheââ¬â¢s not placing me anywhere because I was a bad worker. I then tell her how Iââ¬â¢m seeing a therapist trying to turn things around, and how the supervisor told me I was the only one who can use them as a reference. She tells me Ok well after being told that she would find another placement for me. I left never got a call back, she never placed me. I find this to be a bad situation. I think this because some people become bias to some people. Iââ¬â¢m not that outgoing when it comes to work related serious things. I never spoke up, the other girls were very outgoing and talked to her all the time so they got close, while I was the one who never ââ¬Å"toke work seriously. She didnââ¬â¢t judge me on how well my work was, she had her own judgment call on how I dressed, and looked. I came up with this termination by, the looks she gave me, I have a lip ring, she didnââ¬â¢t like it hated seeing it even on my days off, I have tattoos also hated them and thought they were disgusting. Lastly the uqnie clothes I wore. They were different than most people, but never revealing or showy. I also think it is an issue, if she doesnââ¬â¢t judge me on how well I work, does she do this to others too?
